Remote Attendees

If you live in a land far, far away and cannot attend Event Camp Twin Cities, fear not! We have a strategy to include you as a participant.

Two Way Communication Link

Event Camp Twin Cities - Two Way Communication LinkRemote attendees will have a two way link into the face-to-face sessions. We have partnered with Intefy and Sonic Foundry to create a remote attendee experience that will be unlike anything you have seen at most events. This link will include the ability to view the video stream and the slides from the main sessions, the ability to participate in the backchannel with on-site attendees and other remote attendees. The official Twitter hashtag is #ectc10. Also, there will be a hybrid moderator that will capture your questions and comments to share with the greater audience. And, we will be using PollEverywhere to allow ALL attendees (face-to-face and virtual) to vote via Twitter or their mobiles when speakers are asking questions.

In addition, Emilie Barta, the virtual emcee will guide you through the event and make sure that you are connected to the face-to-face audience. In between sessions, she will interview speakers, sponsors and attendees to add additional context to your event experience.

The “Remote Audience” Project Experiment

Event Camp Remote Participation ProjectAs a remote attendee, you are normally left to just watch the conference at your desk. In several of our sessions, we will have special projects for the remote attendees to complete during one or more of the sessions.  The idea here is to tap into your ideas and wisdom and give each remote attendee a unique event experience.

Participation PODs

A POD is a small group of remote attendees that have gathered together in a single location to participate in the conference.

Event Camp Twin Cities will have two PODS. One POD in Dallas, Texas and another POD in Basel Switzerland. We have organized remote video links to allow the POD leaders to share ideas and points of view from the POD attendees in these locations.

Happy to setup a POD event for EventCamp TC from Basel Switzerland.
I can involve local attendees in the France/Germany/Switzerland tri-region area through my network here.
I’m doing a POD eventon 10 Sep for TEDxEutropolis in the same fashion and could use the same configuration/setup the day before.
    Let’s discuss,
    Ruud Janssen

    Hello Event Campers,

I set up your event on Be In The Room, a service for event organizers we have recently launched. Be In The Room allows event organisers to use social media more effectively during events and curate all their content in one place:
    http://www.beintheroom.com/ectc10/

I have added curation of the Twitter stream and Foursquare checkins for the #ectc10 event, but you can also add other services including livestreamed video, Google Wave and event registrations right off the page (via Eventbrite ticket widget)

More about what you can do with Be In The Room here:
    http://www.beintheroom.com/what/

    Any questions get in touch!

    Lucy :)

Does the virtual portion follow the same schedule as the live event? Just Thursday though right? Start at 8:00 am CDT?

  4. samueljsmith says:

Good Question Traci! the program for remote attendees is different than the face-to-face event. The event starts at 7:50 Central Time

You can find the program here: http://eventcamptwincities.com/live
